Situated in the heart of Colorado Springs, The Airplane Restaurant offers a truly unique American and Latin American dining experience that effortlessly blends classic diner comfort with fine dining flair. This aviation-themed gem invites guests to savor flavorful dishes amidst an atmosphere buzzing with the nostalgic charm of flight, featuring authentic airplane memorabilia, models, and even an actual vintage Boeing aircraft converted into an intimate dining space. For aviation enthusiasts and food lovers alike, this is a must-visit destination that lifts the standard dining experience to new heights.

The culinary offerings here span an impressive menu that showcases the best of American and Central American flavors. Signature dishes like the Afterburner Burger — a juicy beef or chicken burger topped with tangy guacamole, roasted green chilies, and pepper jack cheese — pack a flavorful punch designed to ignite your taste buds. The Buffalo Burger is not only leaner but layers savory richness with far fewer calories, a perfect pick for those mindful of their palate and health. Fans of classic sandwiches will find solace in the Prime Rib Sandwich and the hearty, melt-in-your-mouth Reuben Sandwich.

Appetizer options like the Runway Chicken Wings — tossed in a range of sauces from spicy Buffalo to zesty Teriyaki — and the indulgent Air Tower Nachos, piled high with beef and bean chili, jalapeños, and melted cheese, provide a delicious preflight to your main course. The salads show a fresh, creative touch, particularly the Blackened Salmon Caesar, featuring perfectly seasoned North Atlantic salmon atop crisp romaine with creamy Caesar dressing and parmesan that tastes like it was caught right off an adventurous pilot’s boat.

One of the things that truly stands out about The Airplane Restaurant is its dining atmosphere. Guests often rave about the opportunity to dine inside the carefully preserved airplane itself, seated in cozy booths or tables with the cockpit perfectly intact, allowing for an immersive experience that feels like a mini aviation museum. Friendly staff add to the charm, offering not just excellent service but also little tours and stories about the aviation memorabilia sprinkled throughout the venue.

Regular patrons like Pam Defries have described the restaurant as a fun experience with “one of the best burgers I’ve ever had,” praising the large portions and warm hospitality. Robin perfectly captures the spirit of the place noting, “The whole place is like an airplane museum,” underscoring how this unique theme elevates even simple meals like chicken tenders and quesadillas into memorable events. Guests celebrate the quality and freshness of the food, the generous servings, and the authentic ambiance that makes every visit feel special.

Whether you’re sharing a Cheeseburger and Fries with friends, diving into the juicy flavors of a Sirloin Steak, or savoring the homey richness of Baked Spaghetti, The Airplane Restaurant delivers a hearty and satisfying meal that delights all the senses. Its unique combination of flavorful Central American and American dishes, friendly service, and aviation-themed surroundings make it an unforgettable stop for locals and travelers passing through Colorado Springs.

Such a fun experience! Service was great, friendly staff! The food was so good, one of the best burgers I've ever had and portions are big! We got there early so we were seated inside the airplane!

Such a fun and unique spot! The whole place is like an airplane museum, with models, airplane parts, and even a real airplane turned into a dining area. Definitely ask to sit inside the airplane—it’s the best part, and you can even check out the cockpit for photos. Food was tasty and fresh—we had the chicken tenders and their famous quesadilla. Huge portions for the price, so we had to take some home. Service was on the slower side (my iced tea lemon was forgotten too), but they seemed short staffed, so understandable. The funniest part? The restrooms play loud airplane engine sounds—it feels like a plane is about to take off (or crash ). Had a good laugh about it. Overall, 5 stars for the unique experience, 5 stars for food, but service could be faster. Still worth it just for the airplane vibe!

Went on a Friday night, there was a wait but it was worth it. We got seated in the plane my daughter was excited. The host does a mini tour and explain about the place. They really do lean into the airport theme. We started off with the say cheese sticks, very good. Then we got cheeseburger with "fries". They are not your normal fries, thicker then chips, almost like a thin potato skin. Very good and a unique spin. I got the baked spaghetti very good and loaded with peppers, onions and sausage. If you have time this is a great spot.

Super cool place to visit with your family. You can either eat in the building which has a lot of cool airplane memorabilia to look at or eat in an actual old school Boeing airplane thats been converter to have booths & tables! They even preserved the cockpit. I had a special of steak & shrimp & it was very good! They know how to make a medium rare steak for sure.

Wonderful plane dining experience. Food was fabulous and in large portions. Appetizers were served with main course. Too much to eat and so carried some home. My favorite was the baked spaghetti. Definitely try this place out when staying at the Radison near the airport or when in Colorado Springs in general. Awesome service provided by Naomi!

Fun little tourist spot to visit. Staff is excellent and leans into the decor. Hostess let us know some of the history as we walked in and our server was excellent. You can eat in the airplane but also just go take a look into the cockpit and play around. Fun place for kids. Lots of bison options, to include corned bison for the Reuben. The fries are also great, they are like thicker potato slices that are well fried.

Pros: if you have a person who loves planes, then this is the spot to go! Lots of plane memorabilia, life sized items, and the obvious plane you can eat in. You can also eat in the regular restaurant if you are easily claustrophobic or just need more room. The menu has a great selection, the desserts were good, and service was great. The kids menu was fabulous! Cons: the booths in the plane are close together so if you go while it's busy, you may hear others conversations. I read another comment about it being dated but I wouldn't consider that a con. I love the small town feel and it's places like these that make it an experience and just not eating food and rushing out. Probably the only other con was it's out of the way, but we drove two hours and enjoyed every second! 9.5/10 would recommend *Ate the Bomber burger with fries. Very good!

Cool experience. I didn’t expect it to be kind of like a museum. Got to eat inside the plane. Good burgers. Really enjoyed the food. The French fries were fantastic. They have Cholula hot sauce you just ask for it.
